The Yamaha Silver Cup short track was featured in Cycle News 50
years ago. The race, which was illustrated on the cover, was held at
Madison Square Garden in New York and played out in front of a sellout
crowd of more than 17,000 fans. Al Kenyon held off Jim Odom to
take the win and the $2740 purse... We tested the Norton Commando
Fastback street bike... J.N. Roberts continued his winning ways in the
California desert.
The Suzuki
School of
Motocross was
highly regarded
in the late 1970s
and early '80s.
Tuition for the
three-day-long
class? $150,
and in 1981 that
included lodging,
food and
motorcycles.
