P111 STORY AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY KEN HILL G one were the knee-deep mud filled ruts that the previous race offered, as round seven of the AMSOIL GNCC Series unfolded under sunny skies and climbing temperatures. The venue was prepped, the riders were ready and a three-hour long shootout was about to blast off the starting line at the Dunlop Limestone 100. With the series points leaders looking to get back on the podium after a tough time in the Kentucky mud, FMF/KTM's Charlie Mullins and Kaliub Russell were poised to pull off another podium finish and get back to their winning ways in the heat of Indiana. The off-camber downhill start would prove to be no match for AmPro Yamaha's Paul Whibley who pulled yet another near flawless All-Balls Racing Holeshot when the XC1 Pro class took to the track. Whibley has been fighting an early season wrist injury and has yet to be a factor as the series reaches the halfway point. Whibley stated prior to the race that he was otherwise feeling good and after so many successful seasons under his belt that this must be "his year" to deal with adversity. Whibley followed teammate Jordan Ashburn through the first lap, as the lead pack of racers entered a dry rock-infested creek bed that quickly claimed Ashburn. At that point, the race was on. Russell and Mullins now had the lead within their grasp after they had worked their way around Whibley. The KTM duo obtained the front positions while the other XC1 Pros now started pushing harder. Josh Strang and Thad Duvall, however, closed the gap on the FMF/KTM duo. Meanwhile, XC2 racers Andrew DeLong had made his way deep within the ranks of the XC1 Pros by lap two and looked to
