We also had a feature on some of the top mechanics of the Winston Pro
Series... Cycle News got a close-up look at Wes Cooley's Superbike
Championship-winning Yoshimura Suzuki GS1000... Speaking of Cooley,
the AMA found his Suzuki to be legal after a protest was filed by Kawasaki
and Eddie Lawson, claiming illegal modifications were made to the Suzuki's
frame... We also scoped out Bernie Schreiber's trick Italjet trials bike.

JANUARY 7, 1981
Our final issue of 1970 featured a look at some of the new models that
were in store for 1971, but on the cover was a futuristic illustration of
what we thought motorcycles would look like by the year 1985. One of
our predictions was this three-cylinder, 800cc two-stroke motorcycle
that runs on liquid propane and had a catalytic exchanger to reduce
emission to 1985 standards... We showed you Suzuki's new TM400R
Joel Robert-replica racer, that boasted a 40-horsepower engine that
was paired with 7.1 inches of fork travel. MSRP was $999.
