Roman Takes Red Bull Override
S
herco rider Mario Roman took the win
at the Red Bull Override extreme race
held at the Rocky Ridge Ranch in Decatur,
Texas, Saturday, December 5. The Span-
iard outlasted fellow Sherco rider American
Cody Webb in the grueling six-hour race
that started at 2:00 pm and finished in the
dark at 8:00 pm. Canadian Trystan Hart
rounded out the podium on his FMF KTM.
The race uses a loop format, with laps
in the 40+ minute range for the top riders,
and three extremely difficult "Override"
sections added to the course at desig-
nated times during the event, becoming
required sections from that point forward.
Webb led the first couple of laps, with
Roman close behind and Hart a few min-
utes back in third. Roman took over the
lead on the third lap and slowly opened
the gap over the next several hours and
maintained it to the finish. He ended up
completing eight laps and was the only
rider to complete the first checkpoint on
the ninth lap. Webb completed eight laps
and defending Red Bull Override Cham-
pion Hart completed seven laps when the
time expired.
Nick Fahringer finished fourth overall
with six laps completed and fellow Sherco
rider Quinn Wentzel rounded out the top
five, with five laps and one check on lap
six completed.
