f you're going to do it, you may as well do it at home. That's how Miguel
Oliveira did it by winning the final race of the 2020 MotoGP World
Championship, his second of the season, at his home race at Portimao.
It was the first time the spectacular, undulating venue had hosted a Mo-
toGP race and the home boy didn't disappoint, taking pole position from
Petronas Yamaha rider Franco Morbidelli and Jack Miller.
That's how the top three would stand at the end of the 25-lap race, after
Oliveira pulled a disappearing act from the first corner. By mid-race he was
over four seconds clear of the fighting Morbidelli and Miller, those two re-en-
gaging in the fight that saw Morbidelli grab victory last time out at Valencia.
Home boy makes
good! Miguel Oliveira
came home with the
bacon at home in
Portugal, sending the
absent home crowd
into a frenzy.
Miguel Oliveira delivered the result both he and the
absent home crowd wanted with a win in the 2020
Portuguese MotoGP, held for the first time at Portimao
