LOOKING BACK
We dug into the heart of Don Vesco's Kawasaki KX1300 streamliner,
which was pictured on the cover of Cycle News 40 years ago. Vesco
was hoping to break records at Bonneville but rain put a stop to that. He
was forced to pack up, head home and wait till next year to give it another
shot... Honda announced its six-rider motocross team for 1981: Johnny
O'Mara, Rich Coon, Jim Gibson, Donnie Hansen, Chuck Sun and
Danny LaPorte.

third consecutive win at the fourth running of the iconic race, which
was hosted by the San Gabriel Valley M.C. Steve Kirk and Rich
Thorwaldson completed the podium... Ake Jonsson continued his
winning ways in the Inter-Am Motocross Series held just outside of San
Francisco... Joel Robert finished off the Trans-AMA MX Series with
another win in Puyallup, Washington.
