we were excited to go to something more aggressive
and bigger for a true mountain-use case study.
These new XTR370's are 30x10x15. That makes
them much larger than the stock 28x9-15 front and
28x11-15 rears. And, thanks to System 3's smart, Hon-
da Talon-specific wheel setup, these mount up as
a "Perfect Fit" (LINK: https://system3offroad.com/
news/2020/6/18/sb-4-beadlocks-honda-talon).
That means the separate-track stance of the stock
Talon gets transformed into a same-track-width
ride without the need for suspect spacers. These are
intently made to make this vehicle ride right. This
shows real, specific build quality in the wheelset.
Simply mount up 4+3 offset wheels in the rear and
6+1 offset in the front and your Talon will be all
squared up.
The 30x10-15 XTR370's give the Talon a mean,
aggressive stance that looks like it's ready to rumble.
The SB-4 wheels put them in just the right spot
without making the Talon too wide to fit in our trailer
or causing the rubber to rub during aggressive riding.
We loved how the new System 3 Off-Road tires
chewed up the rocky trails and floated over rain ruts
and water bar cut-outs in the mountain trails of
Montana. They do ride with a little more feedback
to the wheel thanks to their size and weight, but
combined with FOX Live Valve, the handling and
bump compliance in the cab was amazing. We espe-
cially enjoyed the extra traction during Launch Mode
blitzes on the Marks Ranch.
The only downfall with the System 3 Off-Road
setup is that it weighs more than stock. That's
understandable considering the rubber real estate
you're gaining, but it is a real factor.
After a few days ripping around the high country,
we can't even tell we spun a wheel. These tires look
like they're going to be long-lasting runners for the
rest of the year.
While the new tires take a little more horsepower to
turn, they reward with massive traction and the look
we were hunting for!
