38 TALON GUIDE PAIUTE TRAIL CLOSEST TOWN: BEAVER UTAH – MARYSVALE UTAH Permit required: Yes More Information: www. utah.com/atv/paiute-trail One of the more memorable trips taken will no doubt be the one that has you packing in the gear to the back of your SXS and driving from one town to the next. One such destination should be the trip from Beaver Utah over the Paiute trail to Marysvale Utah. This epic journey is one of incredible views and insane elevations. Although a large portion of the trail is ranch roads there are some more technical sections along the way. Rising to over 12,000 feet at Delano peak this ride will be one for the memory bank. The town of Beaver is an estimated population of right around three thousand and the locals are very accommodating for those who want to venture into the landscape there. Rolling out of Beaver on Hwy 153 and past Black Mountain to the south of you the views begin to shine. As you reach up into the mountains the road turns to dirt and the off road is all around you. You might even choose to stop in at the Eagle Point resort and enjoy the elevation for a bit to get acclimated or to pick up any last-minute trail supplies you may need. Picking the pace back up you will notice the rocky terrain becoming even more rocky as the trails begin to reach up into the sky a little more. The mountain ranges here engulf the trail system and wilderness be- comes true and very real. Watch where you step out of your machine and be sure if you are a flat lander that you walk slow because oxygen is a premium for some. It has been some time since our visit to the Paiute trail, but I do remember staying at Hoovers River Resort. It is a peaceful lodge on a small river and made for a very relaxing stay overnight. Regardless of what part of the Paiute trail you ride your SXS on it will be apparent very quickly why this location was included in our off-road destination list. Friendly locals are always willing to lend a hand if you are in need and the trails as well as scenery at higher than normal elevations will leave you breathless in more ways than one! AOAA CLOSEST TOWN: SHAMOKIN PA. Permit required: Yes More Information: www.aoaatrails.com Visiting the North Eastern United States', you will find several great riding areas but one that sticks out in our mind is the Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area. The AOAA is located in Northumberland County and just south of Shamokin PA. This facility is plenty big enough for your UTV and the 7500 acres of County as well as owner forest combined with coal land you are sure to find the type of riding adventure you seek. IRON MOUNTAIN – DAWSONVILLE GEORGIA CLOSEST TOWN: DAWSONVILLE GA. Permit required: Yes More Information: www.ironmountain.com Located in the hills of northern Georgia Iron Mountain park covers a few thousand acres of majestic wood- land. The trails are challenging with some tight tree lined sections giving way to wide open mountain top views of the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains. Trails here give you steep hill climbs, rocky lower bottoms with plenty of mud after a good shower and places to camp with your buddies as the evening moves in. Located only a few miles from downtown Dawsonville, Iron mountain is surrounded by a rich racing history and who knows, just grabbing something to eat at Gordon Pirkle's Dawsonville Pool room may give you a chance to see and speak with NASCAR greats like the Elliott family.
