T
he 2020 AMA Supermoto Championship was held
over two action-packed days at Mussleman Race-
way in Arizona, with Chris Fillmore finally taking a
title he been after for 18 long years.
The Southern California-based racer and KTM's AFT
Team Manager got off to a sluggish start as fellow KTM
rider Jake Laforge made the early running, taking the
first two heat wins while Fillmore took the final two.
Fillmore and Laforge ended up tied on points, but Fillmore
was given the title on account of winning the final race.
Here are some of our favorite images from an event
that, due to Covid-19, looked unlikely to go ahead until
promoter Alex Mock managed to get it in the books.
(Right) The tight turn one caught out more
than a few riders over the weekend, with
crashes in the first three starts of the Amateur
class and also here in the Pro category in race
two. Here, Bronson Pearce (red helmet) hits
the deck after colliding with Brady Tauson
(80) and Dustin Hoffman (in black).
The Pro Lites class saw the
closest action of any category
at Tucson, with Christian
Payne (123) and reigning
class champion Nicky Reimer
sharing the victories. It came
down to a winner-take all final
and was looking like even
going down to the last corner,
until Payne crashed at the
end of the dirt section while
desperately trying to pass a
backmarker as he was closing
down on eventual 2020
champion Reimer.
