T
he second weekend in a row at the
Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia was
one for the ages as Suzuki's Joan Mir
wrapped up a first title for the Suzuki Mo-
tor Company since Kenny Roberts Jr. two
decades prior in 2000.
MotoGP sophomore Mir came home
a safe seventh to seal the deal in a tense
encounter that saw pole sitter Franco
Morbidelli (Petronas Yamaha SRT) get the
better of Jack Miller (Pramac Ducati) in a
thrilling final-lap duel. The Italian and Aus-
tralian had broken clear of the pack by mid
distance, and for a while it looked as though
Morbidelli had everything under control, but
for a charging Miller to close down the one-
second gap and make a pass for the lead at
the first corner of the final lap.
IT'S BEEN 20
LONG YEARS, BUT
SUZUKI FINALLY
HAS ANOTHER
WORLD CHAMPION.
