LOOKING BACK
Steve Wise was pictured on the cover of Cycle News 40 years ago for
winning the Superbikers race at Carlsbad Raceway. He outdueled fellow
Honda rider Andre Malherbe of Belgium for top honors. Road racer Eddie
Lawson was next best in third... We covered the V.O.T.E. Trick or Treat
Trails event in Littlerock, California, where Scott Head captured the overall
win... Cycle News tested the Husqvarna 420 Automatic Enduro... In the
local motocross scene, Johnny O'Mara won the 125cc Pro class over A.J.
Whiting and Chris Heisser at Indian Dunes Motocross.

We gave sidehackers some love 50 years ago. Sidehackers competing at
Hopetown were pictured on the cover... We reported that Sylvain Geboers
had two of his work RH Suzukis stolen in California but were recovered
after the thieves had asked a local motorcycle shop owner how to remove
serial numbers from motorcycles. The shop owner called the cops and
the bikes were recovered... Joel Robert won the Trans-AMA Motocross
round in Dallas, Texas... Sylvain Geboers won the Inter-Am Motocross in
LaFayette, Colorado.
