California Outdoor Recreation
Foundation Formed
F
ormed in 2020 to help com-
memorate the California
State Park's Off-Highway Motor
Vehicle Recreation Program's
50th anniversary (1971-2021), the
California Outdoor Recreation
Foundation (CORF) will serve
as a central clearing house for
individuals and organizations
seeking to collaborate with State
Parks to celebrate this important
recreation milestone throughout
2021.
The CORF Board of Directors
is a dedicated group of volunteers
who bring a wide range of experi-
ence and synergy across the
spectrum of off-highway vehicle
recreation, including environ-
mental stewardship, safety and
education. CORF invites like-
minded partners, state and fed-
eral agencies, manufacturers and
recreation-based organizations to
join them in this celebration.
CORF recently received noti-
fication from the IRS that it is a
recognized public charity exempt
from federal income tax under
the Internal Revenue Code (IRC)
Section 501(c)(3). That classifi-
cation allows donors to deduct
contributions under IRC Section
170. It also qualifies CORF to
receive tax-deductible bequests,
devises, transfers or gifts under
Sections 2055, 2106 or 2522.
"The IRS confirmation letter
allows us to obtain corporate
insurance, receive grants/dona-
tions and enter into partnership
agreements," Paul Slavik, the
Foundation's president, said.
"It is a significant accomplish-
ment, that will enhance our
efforts to support the California
State Park's Off-Highway Motor
Vehicle Recreation Program's
fifty (50) years of providing world
class recreation and environmen-
tal stewardship to residents and
visitors of the Golden State."
