T
he 2020 MotoGP season continued
its erratic and surprising nature at the
fabulous Motorland Aragon venue over
the weekend, with another new race winner
and a shift in the title chase.
Ecstar Suzuki's Alex Rins, the local lad
from Alcaniz, located just down the road from
the circuit and who qualified a lowly 10th,
finally took victory in his home race from Mr.
Marquez and teammate Joan Mir.
Rins got to the front at one-third race
distance, passing Monster Energy Yamaha's
Maverick Vinales on lap eight at the final cor-
ner. He never saw another rider, but equally
was never more than a couple of bike lengths
ahead of his pursuers until the flag fell.
Yet it wasn't the usual Marc Marquez that
Rins had to fight off, but the hugely impres-
sive little brother of the eight-time world
champion, Alex, as the current Moto2 World
Champion continued his podium run to make
it two in a row, this time in the dry and at a
very different circuit to Le Mans in France.
