Behind him Mees was doing
everything he could do to get
some points and held down the
runner-up position as Bauman
sat in third in the shortened race.
Behind him, Coolbeth-Nila Rac-
ing's Sammy Halbert was on the
move, first passing Happy Trails
Racing's Jeffrey Carver and then
passing Bauman to take the final
podium spot. In the end, Mees
finished second in the standings
with Halbert in third.
AFT SINGLES
With Estenson Racing's Dallas
Daniels clinching the AFT Singles
Championship last weekend in
cided AFT SuperTwins Cham-
pionship, the series scrapped
the semi races, bumped up the
premier class main event to the
front of the order and gridded
each class according to their
combined qualifying times.
Meanwhile, the track crew
worked tirelessly to get it ready
to race, but unfortunately just
when it was set to go it rained
again. Four hours later, Mother
Nature let up and riders lined
up for the shortened main event
that would decide a champion.
Robinson, once again, took
the lead early and sailed to vic-
tory for the second night running.
"This is amazing," Robinson
said. "Through the ups and
Daytona Short Track is known for some
epic battles, making for an exciting
battleground as the AFT SuperTwins
title fight went down to the wire at the
season finale. Jared Mees (9) tried to
win back the title but came up short.
After a roller coaster season, Brandon Robinson (44) finished
the year with a pair of wins in Daytona.
