The Italian led from the start
and controlled a chaotic race,
finishing ahead of first-time Mo-
toGP podium man Alex Marquez
(Repsol Honda) and Red Bull
KTM's Pol Espargaro.
Jack Miller was also in the
battle. The Australian, also
known as a wet-weather master,
was in the hunt for the win when
his Pramac Ducati gave up the
ghost at the halfway point of the
race, putting serious damage on
his title hopes.
IIIMY OWN RACE:
9 DANILO PETRUCCI
1ST MOTOGP
"It was an incredible race," Danilo Petrucci
said. "As of this morning, I knew I could have
done a good performance with the dry condi-
ons, but when I saw the rain on the grid,
I knew it was going to be a difficult race. I
thought I had nothing to lose and that maybe
I could be equally strong even in the wet. In
the past, I had managed to get podiums in
those condi ons, but never a win."
73 ALEX MARQUEZ
2ND MOTOGP
"A great day," Alex Marquez said. "It wasn't
easy star ng 18th on the grid but I was feel-
ing really good on the bike. We lost some
me figh ng with Cal and Pol and Dovi, but
apart from this I did a good race and it's a
great result for the Repsol Honda Team. I
want to say thank you to them for always
believing in me and working so hard."
44 POL ESPARGARO
3RD MOTOGP
"I enjoyed that so much," Espargaro said. "It
was a very tough race. When I saw the rain
coming I said to myself, 'I've got nothing to
lose, so let's send it and try it.' On the last
laps I was spinning and sliding a lot but I
was super-pumped to see the podium was
in reach, so I pushed. It was a great ending."

wretched time in France, getting
caught in Valentino Rossi's crash
and having to fight back to 10th.

start, with Cal Crutchlow (35) and
Fabio Quartararo close in tow.
