Roman Dominates Enduraid
I
t was a Sherco duel at the open-
ing round of the 2020-2021
Extreme Challenge: the Enduraid
des Gorges de I'Allier in France,
October 9-10. The race boiled
down to a two-man dogfight be-
tween Team Sherco rider Mario
Roman and Wade Young, with
Roman coming out on top.
Starting strong on Friday
evening, Roman won the night
prologue and launched his
weekend in the best possible
way. On Saturday the riders set
out for three 40-mile loops with
the level of difficulty increasing
as the laps progressed. Roman
and Young set a blistering pace
from the start, completing the
first lap in less than 1.5 hours,
wheel to wheel. At the end of the
second lap Young managed to
break away slightly from Roman
by more than a minute.
When they arrived at the third
and hardest lap, Roman in-
creased his effort, reeled in and
passed Young for the lead. Ro-
man then widened the gap over
the difficult terrain, dominating
the third lap and taking the win
over Young. CN

Bou Wraps Up
TrialGP Title
R
epsol Honda rider Toni Bou
claimed his 28th World
Championship title after winning
both days at the season final in
Italy, October 10-11. It was Bou's
fifth and sixth wins of the series
and 14th GP world title.
Bou actually clinched the
championship on Saturday.
He topped the field with room
to spare over fellow Spaniards
Jorge Casales (GasGas) and
Jaime Busto (Vertigo).
Bou won again on Sunday
ahead of Jeroni Fajardo (Sherco)
and Casales.
In the 2020
Championship,
Bou finished well
clear of Adam
Raga (TRRS),
152-121. Third went
to Buso with 105
points. Casales and Fajardo
rounded out the top five.
"I really did not expect to win
the title today," Bou said after of-
ficially clinching the title on Sat-
urday. "It was a very tight trial,
like all of the races this year, and
that makes it very easy to drop
from first to seventh, so we could
not make any mistakes. I am very
happy with this title, and even
more so as this year has been so
strange, with many training ses-
sions and few races." CN
Toni Bou added yet
another TrialGP World
Championship to his
already impressive
resume. He clinched
this year's title in Italy.
