Scott Parker was pictured on the cover of Cycle News 30 years ago for
winning the Sacramento Mile and wrapping up his third consecutive Grand
National Championship title... Mike Kiedrowski and Jeff Stanton won
the 125cc and 500cc National Motocross rounds, respectively, at Budds
Creek, back then known as Potomac Speedway... Dan Smith won the
Wendover Hare & Hound National in Nevada. The win put Smith in the
championship lead with one round to
go... Randy Hawkins won the Little
Rhody National Enduro.

Kenny Roberts Jr. made front-page news for clinching the 500cc World
Championship in Brazil with two rounds still on the schedule. The title
marked the first time that a father and son had won the same World
Championship... Chris Carr officially clinched the Wrenchead.com
National Dirt Track Championship by just qualifying for the Del Mar Mile.
Geo Goeder II went on to win the main event... We covered the second
annual Surfercross competition held at San Onofre State Beach and Glen
Helen Speedway. David Pingree was a member of the winning team.
