Stock 1000 race
and sealed the
championship, but
was penalized 0.4
seconds due to a
sporting infraction,
which dropped
him from first to
second in the final
result. BMW rider
Travis Wyman,
who had caught
up to Petersen in
the race, overtook
him, and led the
race briefly until
Petersen passed
him back, but
Wyman inherited
the win for his first
Stock 1000 victory
of the season.
Richie Escalante
pulled another
double win out of
the bag to clinch
the MotoAmerica
Supersport
Championship.
He rode the same
way as always at
Indy—full attack—to
mark his first title
win and a first
for Mexico in the
intermediate class.
