Musquin and Tomac are still math- ematically alive, but at minus-42 (Musquin) and minus-47, their respective chances are closer to none than slim. As for the rest of the field, Honda's Chase Sexton's 2-5 ride was good for a quiet fourth overall while his teammate Christian Craig had his best day of the season with a 7-4 for fifth overall. Going into this penultimate round everyone knew that the Star Racing Yamaha YZ250Fs would have the edge in the mile-high- plus altitude of Thunder Valley, and they gathered at the front of the pack off each start. Ferrandis, Cooper, McElrath and newcomers Briefly... THUNDER VALLEY NOTES: Cameron McAdoo DNF'd moto one after he crashed into a lapped rider during the last lap, breaking three fingers. He did not start moto two... 17-year-old Nate Thrasher (Star Yama- ha) was impressive in his pro debut at Thunder Valley. He qualified eighth in the 250MX class and went 11-6 for 13th overall... After finishing fifth in the first 450MX moto, Justin Barcia fell in the second and "wasn't able to keep going," he said. Barcia's factory Yamaha team- mate Broc Tickle, 10th in the first moto, also retired in the second moto with a mechanical... Joey Savatgy (JGR Suzuki) pulled out of the first moto and sat out the second. He fell in practice, injuring his foot. He says, however, he'll be good for Pala... Fredrik Noren (JGR Suzuki) crashed hard right off the start of the second 450MX moto. He got up in 31st place and went on to finish 13th in the moto for 11th overall (11-13)... Blake Baggett (8-DNS) did not start the second moto after jamming two of his fingers during the first moto. (Left) A banged-up Marvin Musquin (25) couldn't take advantage of a second-moto holeshot.
