Husqvarna's RJ Hampshire had
a shot at the podium too but
then on the last lap of the first
moto his bike kicked at the lip of
a tabletop and ended with him
having to bail out high above the
track. Fortunately, Hampshire
was not injured in the spectacu-
lar crash, but his mangled bike
was done. His team would refit it
for the second moto, in which he
finished sixth. CN
to the one and only track on
the circuit right where he's won
before. This time he put to-
gether a solid 4-2 afternoon for
second, his best effort of the
year to date.
"It's been an up and down
season, and I've been waiting
to put together two good motos
like this, and today was the day,"
said Cooper to NBC Sport's Will
Christensen on the social-dis-
tanced podium. "This place defi-
nitely brings the heat. It just feels
good when you're expected to
do this and it hasn't come in so
long and to finally get it down is
just, I'm just grateful."
Geico Honda's Jett Lawrence,
the youngest rider in the class
at 17, was again frustrated in
his bid to get his first overall
podium. His 2-5 scores meant
fourth overall. And Rockstar
Justin Cooper is getting back
up to speed again after his
preseason hand injury. He
made it a Monster Energy/
Star Racing Yamaha 1-2.
