MOTOGP FIM MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 8 / SEPTEMBER 25-27, 2020 CIRCUIT DE BARCELONA CATALUNYA / BARCELONA, SPAIN P74 Rossi now tumbles down to 11th thanks to two consecutive race crash- es, with Dovizioso now fourth. Quartararo leads the series now at 108 to Mir's 100, with Vinales third at 90 as MotoGP heads to France for the 2020 French Grand Prix on October 11. Moto2 Sky Racing Team VR46's Luca Marini produced some Montmelo magic to see off Sam Lowes (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) in the closing stages in the Catalunya Moto2 round, taking what could turn out to be a vital victory in his quest to be crowned World Champion in 2020. Lowes was forced to settle for second, with the podium completed by Fabio Di Giannantonio (HDR Heidrun Speed Up) as the Italian was back on the podium for the first time this year. American Joe Roberts had one if his best perfor- mances for some time, taking fifth on the Tennor American Racing Kalex. Marini is 20 points clear in the cham- pionship at 150 ahead of Bastianini at 130 (sixth in Catalunya) with Bezzecchi (seventh-place finisher) third at 114. (Above) Maverick Vinales went from dominating in Misano to nowhere in Catalunya. More consistency is needed if he wants that title. (Right) Franco Morbidelli (21) led away early but couldn't maintain Quartararo's pace. (Below) Joan Mir is most certainly the danger man right now.
