the final all-D&W Cycles podium,
holding off a hard charging TJ
Nees (KTM) on the last lap.
"It was good," said Whipple. "I
got off to a pretty decent start. I
was behind Stickel and Buddy.
I think I was in third going into
the woods. Me and Buddy got
around Stickel about half a lap
into it. Then me and Buddy kind
of pushed and got away from the
other guys.
"Right after the sand hills in
the back, Buddy ended up going
down," Whipple said. "He kind of
crashed pretty hard. He was get-
ting up by the time I was there, so
I went around him. Basically, I held
the lead from there to the finish."
After leading the race for a
while, Fortune finished his day
in second place. "It could have
been better, but it was pretty
solid," he said. "I got a good
start, but pretty early in the race
I hit a log. It threw me [and]
bucked me off. I ate it pretty
hard. I went over my bars, and
that's how Tanner (Whipple) got
around me."
Current points leader Con-
verse ripped through the pack
from his last-place start to finish
third. "It didn't start out great,"
he said "I had a horrible start.
Probably about last. It took me a
while to get going on the 250F.
I am not really used to it. I have
been riding the 125. Eventually I
got going."
