VOLUME 57 ISSUE 38 SEPTEMBER 22, 2020 P37 Holcombe Doubles In EnduroGP Opener B eta Factory Racing's Steve Holcombe came out swing- ing in the opening round of the FIM Enduro World Champion- ship in France, September 19-20, winning both days of competition in the EnduroGP class to give Beta's its first ever four-stroke-powered Enduro World Championship victory. After an extended off-season due to the pandemic, the 2020 EnduroGP season finally got underway. Expected to be a short and sharp season, five- time champion Holcombe was eager to make a strong start and prove himself as a title contend- er, once again. Mixing things up and moving away from his familiar 300cc two-stroke Beta, the French event marked Hol- combe's first professional world championship outing aboard a four-stroke. "Overall, we've certainly proved this weekend that we're on the right track with the 350," Holcombe said. "Now it's a mat- ter of building on today in what's set to be a short, sharp and intense championship." Fellow Beta rider Brad Free- man was second each day. CN Day 1 1. Steve Holcombe (Bet) 2. Brad Freeman (Bet) 3. Loic Larrieu (TM) 4. Andrea Verona (TM) 5. Davide Guarneri (TM) Day 2 1. Steve Holcombe (Bet) 2. Brad Freeman (Bet) 3. Andrea Verona (TM) 4. Jaume Betriu (KTM) 5. Loic Larrieu (TM) Steve Holcombe won both days at the EnduroGP opener in France. PHOTO: FUTURE7MEDIA
