oing into the sixth round of the 2020 Lu-
cas Oil Pro Motocross Championships
at Spring Creek MX Park in Millville,
Minnesota, both points leaders—Zach Osborne
in the 450MX class and Jeremy Martin in the
250s—appeared to have a solid hold on things.
But then Rockstar Husqvarna's Osborne had
his first bad luck of the series, 450-class rookie
Adam Cianciarulo of the Monster Energy Kawa-
saki team won his second straight overall, and
Geico Honda's Martin saw his main rival, Star
Racing Yamaha's Dylan Ferrandis, sweep both
motos in an exciting day of racing. That means
that with three rounds to go in the abbreviated
series, Osborne's lead has been trimmed down
to just 15 points over his new challenger Cian-
ciarulo, and Martin's more modest nine-point
advantage was completely erased—the French-
man Ferrandis now has a three-point lead.
Making Martin's defeat even tougher to swal-
low was the fact that Spring Creek, a stop of the
AMA Pro Motocross tour since 1980, is in his
back yard. Literally. His parents, John and Greta
Martin, are the track owners and both Jeremy
and his older brother Alex (who finished third
overall in 250MX) grew up riding on the proper-
ty. Both Martins put up a good fight, especially
Jeremy, who narrowly lost a thrilling second
moto, but in the end, it was Ferrandis who took
both the Spring Creek win and the red plate as
series points leader for the first time since he
won the opening round back in August.
Osborne was also the points leader after the
series opener, but he's managed to hold onto
it from the start, winning three of the first five
rounds and putting in consistent finishes when
