Holcombe Doubles In EnduroGP Opener
B
eta Factory Racing's Steve
Holcombe came out swing-
ing in the opening round of the
FIM Enduro World Champion-
ship in France, September
19-20, winning both days of
competition in the EnduroGP
class to give Beta's its first ever
four-stroke-powered Enduro
World Championship victory.
After an extended off-season
due to the pandemic, the 2020
EnduroGP season finally got
underway. Expected to be a
short and sharp season, five-
time champion Holcombe was
eager to make a strong start and
prove himself as a title contend-
er, once again. Mixing things
up and moving away from his
familiar 300cc two-stroke Beta,
the French event marked Hol-
combe's first professional world
championship outing aboard a
four-stroke.
"Overall, we've certainly
proved this weekend that we're
on the right track with the 350,"
Holcombe said. "Now it's a mat-
ter of building on today in what's
set to be a short, sharp and
intense championship."
Fellow Beta rider Brad Free-
man was second each day. CN
