F
ranco Morbidelli (Petronas Sprinta Yamaha)
etched his name as a MotoGP race winner—at
home, no less—by taking a dominant victory over
his VR46 Academy companion Francesco Bagnaia
(Pramac Ducati) and Joan Mir (Suzuki Ecstar).
A month after his shocking accident with Johann Zar-
co in Austria, Morbidelli made good on a second-place
grid slot behind lap-record breaker Maverick Vinales
(Monster Energy Yamaha), taking the lead at turn one
from Valentino Rossi and never looking back.
FRANCO MORBIDELLI
WAS THE VICTIM OF
ONE OF MOTOGP'S
MOST TERRIFYING
ACCIDENTS. HE PUT
THE PAST BEHIND HIM
AT HOME IN MISANO
WITH HIS FIRST
MOTOGP WIN.
Franco Morbidelli
showed the kind
of form that took
him to the 2017
Moto2 World
Championship at
Misano, winning
a classy race
to announce
his arrival as
a permanent
MotoGP front
runner.
