AMERICAN FLAT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUNDS 7-8 / SEPTEMBER 11-12, 2020
WILLIAMS GROVE SPEEDWAY / MECHANICSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA
P96
On Saturday it was more of the
same. This time though, Rispoli
got off to a better start and was
in the lead early. He and Texter,
once again, opted for different
line choices, but Rispoli was able
to pull away for his fourth win of
the season and extend his points
lead to 30 at the series halfway
point.
for his best result of the season.
The battle for the final podium
spot was fought between Tanner
Dean and Mischler, with Dean
coming out on top aboard his
the 1st Impressions Race Team
Honda CRF450R.
AFT PRODUCTION TWINS
James Rispoli continues to
strengthen his title bid in the
AFT Production Twins class. The
multi-time road race champion
went into the doubleheader at
Williams Grove without high
expectations, predicting that the
track would not suit his machine,
but he and his Latus Motors Har-
ley-Davidson team got it dialed in.
In the first main event, his
championship rival Cory Tex-
ter got off to a great start on
his G&G Racing Roof Systems
Yamaha MT-07, but Rispoli was
able to chase him down. The pair
battled with Texter taking the low
line and "The Rocket" going up
high, which ultimately paid off as
the race wore on. With three-
minutes to go, Rispoli rode off to
take his third win of the season
by over two seconds ahead of
the defending champion. Joining
them on the podium in third was
RVR RoyBuilt Don's Kawasaki's
Ryan Varnes.
"Three in a row. It's unbeliev-
able, to be honest," Rispoli said.
"This season we're having is
insane. It comes a little easier
when you just have everything
working and gelling. That's what
is happening here. We're so in
tune, Me, Joe (Kopp), and the
team. Arguably the worst track for
the Harley Davidson is Williams
Grove, and we doubled. That's
a testament to how good the
team is. I'm not thinking about a
championship. I just want to keep
winning."
