Stockus Joins AMA

eteran campaign man-
ager Peter Stockus has
joined the AMA staff as the
government relations man-
ager for off-highway issues.
Stockus most recently
oversaw land-use, candidate
campaigns and other issues
for the Calvert Street Group,
a political consulting firm in
Nashville, Tennessee. His
campaign experience dates
to 2016.
Stockus' responsibilities
include expanding and preserving motorcyclist's trail-access
rights, working with landowners who are interested in creat-
ing off-highway vehicle parks and lobbying state and federal
agencies on behalf of the motorcycling community.
Stockus holds a bachelor's in history from DePaul Univer-
sity and a master's in history from Auburn University. CN
Daytona
200 Canceled
for 2020
T
he 79th Daytona 200, presented
by Comoto, has officially been
canceled for 2020 due to the Covid-19
pandemic.
Sanctioned by the AMA and operat-
ed by the American Sportbike Racing
Association (ASRA), the Daytona 200
was postponed from its original date
of March 14 and rescheduled to be a
part of Fall Cycle Scene on Saturday,
October 17. Also, all of its activities
during the Fall Cycle Scene will not be
in operation.
However, the 200 is scheduled to
return on Saturday, March 13, 2021,
during Bike Week (March 5-14). This
marks the second time in history that
the Daytona 200 was not held. The
other was from 1942-'46 due to World
War II.
The status of the Daytona TT, the
season-opening race for the AFT
season that was also postponed in
March, will be addressed by AFT of-
ficials soon. CN

Daytona 200 has
now been officially
canceled.
