P34 IN THE WIND when Cairoli went down and finished third. In the second moto, Cairoli got off to a fast start and held the lead all the way to the finish with Paulin taking second. Paulin's 1-2 edged out Cairoli's 3-1 for the overall win, but Cairoli still enjoys a 38-point lead over the Frenchman in the championship. Third overall went to Suzuki's Clement Desalle, followed by Ken de Dycker, Tommy Searle and Max Nagl. Herlings was in a class all his own in Portugal. He easily won both motos. Even with a couple of mistakes in the second moto, he still finished over a minute ahead of the next-best rider, Aussie Dean Ferris. Ferris finished out the day second overall with a 6-2, while Jose Butron completed the podium with a 3-6. Jordi Tixier and Christophe Charlier rounded out the top five overall. Herlings leads the MX2 championship standing with a maximum 300 points and is well clear of Tixier, who has 219 points. A fter three consecutive days of rainfall in South Central Kentucky, The Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Mammoth GNCC was nothing short of a tough mudder. But that didn't hinder Shenandoah Honda/USWE-Sports.com's Thad DuVall who sealed the deal after putting in a consistent and smooth race aboard his CR250F in Park City, Kentucky, on May 5. DuVall put a late pass on Rocky Mountain ATV/MC's Josh Strang to claim the overall victory. After getting stuck on the last lap, Strang finished less than one minute behind DuVall to secure his first podium finish since round one in Florida. The three-way battle for third became even more intense about halfway through the twohour race, as FMF/KTM's Charlie Mullins, AmPro Yamaha's Jordan Ashburn and Carolina KTM/ RidePG.com backed Chris Bach battled back and forth. Mullins eventually made the pass on Ashburn to briefly claim the third place position, but his day quickly ended due to mechanical issues soon after. Ashburn and Bach battled down to the wire on the last lap, but it was Bach who claimed the final podium position, while Ashburn took fourth overall. Fifth in the XC1 class and seventh overall went to defending champ Paul Whibley on the AmPro Yamaha. Championship leader Mullin was credited with 14th to grab some points, while his nearest rival going in, teammate Kailub Russell dropped out with mechanical problems. Mullins leads the race for the championship with 129 points, followed by Russell with 115. DuVall is third with 93.
