it was Raffaele De Rosa (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) who passed Cluzel late and scored a fine second place after showing strong finishing pace in the 15- lap contest. With Cluzel third, Lucas Mahias (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) was a frustrated fourth. His team-mate Philipp Oettl was recovering from a 100-mph get off in Superpole but he did so well on a Kawasaki that like his teammate's bike, is not quite as fast on top as the more modern Yamahas or 675cc MVs triples. He was fifth. With new lap record holder and track best setter Locatelli not in the lead early on, Cluzel was doing some strong front running, until lap four when an ambitious pass from De Rosa inside the Frenchman into turn one failed and the MV hit the rear and left quarter of Cluzel's Yamaha. The impact, or maybe the sub- sequent fall, broke Cluzel's left tibia for sure and possibly also his fibula. The sheer pace of the leading Yamaha this year took Locatelli to his absolute record ninth WorldSSP race win in a single season. These wins have come consecutively, and in his rookie season. "We just kept pushing throughout race two and took an- other fastest lap," Locatelli said. "We continued to focus and did a really good job to take the win. I'm still not thinking about the championship yet; I just want to continue this momentum and take it race-by-race." Mahias was second for his third podium of 2020 but his teammate Oettl was pipped at the line after his potential po- dium run was halted by local rider Isaac Vinales (Kallio Rac- ing Yamaha) the final third place finisher.
