Then. at the end of the season. riders will cash in on an additional $225.000 that will be distributed based on their season-ending points stand ing. For the th ird year in a row. the Vans Triple Crown of Supercross is also back . and it will award a half million dollars to any rider w ho can win the three Triple Crown races (the second Anaheim roun d: Irv ing. C n U n w (I The AMA has announced some rule changes for the 200 1 AMA Road Race Series. Some of the changes are as follows: the w eight reduction for 600c c motorcycles competing in the 750cc Sup er sp o rt class has been removed: Formula Xtrem e frames may be modified. but at least 50 per ce nt o f the o riginal fr ame struc ture must be re taine d and approved by the Pro Raci ng tech nica l depart ment : the wei ght limit for all Pro Thunder moto rcycles is 380 pounds and the disp laceme nt for all liqu id-cooled. desmod romi c twin s has been redu ced from 800 to 750cc: the number of crew members permitted on the trac k side of pit wall fo r servicing. refueli ng and tire changes during a pit sto p is limit ed to four per motorcycle. While the strategy co ntains word ing that supports OHV use. the document also calls for actions that could lead to far-reaching land closures. the AMA said.
