Chris Ca rro ll was forced to work his way up through tra ffic to finish an eventual m ota , bu t by the n Welc h was gone, on his wa y to pi cking up his second cl ass win of th e day o n a 3 -1 ta ll y . Carroll came out on th e w ron g end of a points tie with 2-2 fin ishes for second overall. Lipscomb followed Carroll up through the field for th ird and third overall , ahead of J eff Hall and Neary. J im Sendelbach 's lead in th e fir st Senior E xpert m ota l asted a little more than a lap befo re Gu arj ardo made the pass . Once out front, Guarjardo pu lled away for the win, over S en d e lbach , George Jim enez and Randall T ittlem ier. Gua rjardo and Sendelbach argued ove r th e lead throughout the second mota, bu t A lan Delarg e got around th em both on th e la st lap for th e win . A cou ple of bobbles o n t he D e l a r g e ' s part in the first mota held him back to th ird a veraII on a 7 -1 day , b ehind Guarjard o ( 1 - 2) and Sendelba ch ( 2 -3) . G u a rj a r d o c o ntrolled th e pa ce out in front of th e fir st Vet (Left) Ed Guarjardo won the Vet Intermediate and Se n i o r Expert c lasses at the t hird round of the Ca liforn ia Racing Club Sp o n so rsh ip Se ries. (Below) Garrett Norr won four straight motos to top the 80cc (12 - 13) and Superm ini classes at Edwa rds A i r Fo rce Ba se in Ca lifornia. second , ahead of John Specht, Stefan Neary and Ray Bec k er. Specht made his wa y to the front of the pack earl y in round two , where he would s t ay until the c h ec k e r s wa ved. W elch k ept Carroll at bay the enti re d istance to go 1-2 for the overall. Carroll ended up third in the final stand ings, ahe ad of Beck er (5- 4) and Shy Moshe (6-5 ). In Vet Nov ice first -ro und ac tio n, RM250 -mou nted Kenard Lips comb moved into th e lead on the o pening lap and never looked b ac k . C arr o ll and We lc h went at it aga in, wit h Carroll pr ev ailing thi s time out fo r seco nd p l ac e at t he checkers . Ra n dy Wilkins came fro m t he back of the p ac k to fi nish a strong se cond , ove r Br u c e Ri ch ard s and Doug Bearden . The seco n d m ota was all Guarja rdo 's ; he l e d eve ry l ap f o r h i s second class v ic t ory o n th e day . Vince Baio ni made up for h is ni nthplace showing in mota one by finishing second to Guarj ardo fo r fifth overall, behind Richards ( 3- 3 ), Wilkins (2-4 ) and Bearden (4 -6) . Garrett No rr wa s o n his mark, posting a couple of class w ins . Norr absolu tely ran away from the field in both round s of 80 c c (12 -13) compe tition o n his CR 8 0 . B ret t K lein was runner -u p both tim es ou t. Greg Owen (3- 4 ) edged out Travis Foos (5 -3) for third overall. No rr picked up the first S u p e r m i n i m o t a wi n, w hile Ricky Pa r k s h a d his sha re of prob l em s . _ Park s returned to m ak e No rr wo rk for the second -mota wi n. Grant Moore J r. was un tou chabl e in the first 250cc Novice mota , show ing Neil C h is hol m a nd J o sh u a Edwards the q uicke st way arou nd the sandy ci rcuit. Edwards returned for a second -mota gate-to-flag win, com ing out on top of a three -way points tie with Chish o lm an d Moore for the overall hon ors. Robert Goettling a nd Ni c k Sweany traded the lead ba ck and fo rt h thro ughout the fi rst 250c c Begin ner m ota , w ith Go ettl ing prevailing in t he end . Mota two was a dupl i cate of the first , with Goettling finally getti ng around Sweany for good at the halfway point fo r a sweep of the class . Ev en though he was e ventually passed by J o nathan Beld in g , Swea ny still ea rned the sec o nd- pla ce troph y .
