I e n e vv s Th e fina l race of the final d a y of the season is a Northeast tradition the team relay race. Teams are comprised of three rid e rs each. Th e first rider is on a Pre -1975 ma chine , the second on an Evolut ion bike , and the third on a modern mount. Eighteen teams entered this rowdy event , in which riders ea ch do three laps and then race to th e starting blocks to ta g th eir teammate. Th e most amusing part of th is event is th e point wher e a rid er must hand his b ike off to one team mem b er , dismoun t and run a cross the grid to tag the other team rider wa iting on the start line . St atis tics and observations indic a te that far more riders fell ru nn ing across t h e sa nd on foot than did th ose o n bikes on t h e tr a ck . T h e t eam o f Ja c k Weaver, Mark Wunderlin and Vincent Scannapieco became the new c ha m pions of th is particular mayhem. The team race was a lighthearted final e to a gr e at 2000 season and a great Vinta ge motocross series. eN MX338 Southwick, Massachusetts R.sulls: October 7, 2000 [Round 10 of 101 MINI ; 1.
