In the 2 50cc Pro c l a s s , Jean quickly grabbed th e lead and - except for a slip in the first m oto , when he took a sp ill b ut quick ly remou nted - he rode a trou b le -free r ac e . Finishing b ehind Jean were Knesek, Ca nnondale pilot Scott Still m o ck, J ames So ck rid er, Sven Stillm o ck , Rand y M a g a a n d Ry an Han sen . Jean also won th e second 250c c Pro moto , but th e o rd er was a little different beh ind h im. Sven Stillmock gra bb ed th e ru n n e r -up sp ot , and B o i s e , Ida ho 's Sock ri der nabb ed third . K nesek and Scott St i ll mock rounded out the top fiv e. In the 125cc Pro race , J ean a nd Knesek went at it tooth and nail, with Jean tak ing the first moto and Knesek hitting his stride la te in the day to win the second moto and c apture the overall. In the deciding second m oto , Knesek was charg ing hard right fro m th e get-go. Busse stayed in secon d , wit h Keuntjes close be hi nd . Once J ohn son got out front, there was no way anyone was going to ca tch him on this day. Jerom inski di d all h e co uld do to get past Keuntjes for th ird , but nothing worked . His consistent 4 -4 fi nishes netted him third overa ll. Keun tjes (2 -3 ) was seco nd overall. With his never -say-die at tit u de , Mall Hopkins is destined to be a star in years to come . Th e Yamaha rider is a joy to watch and will defini tely ma ke waves in the Amateur Nationals in th e futu re . Yamaha-mounted Kyle Garro snagged the 125c c B holeshot, ahea d of Doug Gust, Ho pk ins , Joe Skodras and T yl er Smu lders . Hopk in s m ov ed past Gust and into second on lap two , with Sk odr as foll owing him. Garro put every thi ng he ha d into th is rnoto , try ing to st ay in th e lea d. P ET E E MM E DENMARK, WI, OCT. 1 u nn y skies and warm t em per a tures greeted the 370 riders who came to Denma rk Sports and Com petition for the annual Midwest Area Championship race, and Rhi nelander, Wisconsin 's Chad Johnson swept all six m ot os in which he competed. Th e Team Gr een rider wo n bo t h Sportsman A motos over Du stin Keuntjes, but the real actio n came du ring the e li te 12 5cc A c lass. Busse m oved into th e lead in th e back po rt io n of th e tra ck, foll owed by Oettel. Van Eperen was th ird . Bu sse came in real hot to a left-h ander and we n t off th e t ra c k into some rocks , putting his Yama ha out of contention. Oette l t o o k over t h e lead, with Keuntjes, Van Eperen and Johnson in tow . Oettel quickly moved out to a 20bike-le ngth lead during the second lap. Johnson had his hands full with the two riders ahead of him , but he moved into second and, with fo ur laps to go , he k ne w he h ad a cha nce to catch Oettel. Mi dway through the thi rd lap, O ett el and his DGY Honda washed out in the rocky switchback section , ha nd ing the lea d over to J ohnson and m oving back behind Ke untjes an d Van Epe ren. Oettel and Van Ep eren battled fo r the next two laps. Oettel's bi k e was working great through th e whoop sect io n, and he was cutting t he dista nce be twee n h im sel f and Van E peren , in thi rd .
