AMA Pro Racing has announced that the Du Quoin
Mile, the final round of the AMA Progressive Insurance U.S. Flat Tr ack Championships, has been
canceled due to rain , The fin al race of the 20 00
season had been resch eduled to run today after
rain halted acti on over the weekend. Weather and
track conditions, however, remai ned unfavorable,
and the race was canceled early th is afternoo n.
The deci sion to call th e race was m ade j ointl y
between race promoter Illinois Motorcycle Dealers
Associ ation (IMDA ) and AMA Pro Racing.
The decision m eans that Corbin Racing/H -D of
Missouri- backed Joe Kopp (shown) of Mica, Washingl on, is the 2000 AMA Grand Natio nal Champion. Kopp came into Du Quoin with a 15-point lead
over perennial conte nder Will Davis of Goldsboro,
