The track's a little dangerous; if you crash, it was easy to fall into the lines of the other riders." Browns heat was a little easier, with a win ahead of Brian Steele and Prince . "I was a little surprised by my speed o n Supercross ," Brown said. "I felt reall y s mooth, co nsi dering that I have no t raced indoors for a while . "The n I m a de a mistake , and he got thro ugh on the inside; he knows all the tricks in the bo ok. I tried to stay with him , but I couldn 't. Maybe I could have sta ye d with him a little more, bu t I also wanted to conserve some of th e energy for tomorrow . I just need to practice more for Supercr oss." Dobb once a g ai n suffered a ba d start, whi ch cost h im a ny chan ce o f racing with Brown for the runner-up position . "I was a long way behind out of the sta rt," Dobb s aid . "I had to pass Rob [Herring] a nd Brian St eele, and once I g o t b y t h em , I tr ied to ca tc h Mik e [Brown] . I couldn 't m a ke a ny ground on him, so I settled fo r th ird .. .1 d idn 't want to bum any energy getting to Mike. I'll need all that for the British Motocross Championship race tomorrow." As for McGrath , his race went pretty much to plan , although the quickgating Brown had him worried , if only a little . "I wa s sur prised by Mike [Bro wn ]." McGrath said . "Whe n he got the lea d, I th ought I wo uld hav e to wa it a wh ile to pa s s him ; the track's rea lly n arro w, a nd 1did n't want to have to push pa st. Th en h e dr ifted wi d e , and I s wept under him . From there , it was no tro uble. I had to watch o ut for rocks ; the track had many of th ose , so I pic ked my way around."
