The Support class was won by David Bailey (Kaw), ahead of Klppy Pierce (Yam) and Scott Burnworth (SU ... Gary Scott ran off with l) the Expert main victory at Ascot in r ecord time. The USA edged the Belgian team of Stefan Everts , Dirk Geukens and Marnicq Bervoet s by one point, 9- ] O. The difference in the race came when Stanton, who was tired of dealing with Geukens, parked him on the back sec tion of the track, thus assuring the USa of the victory... Also on the cover of Issue #39 was America's other champion, J ohn Kocinski, as he clinched his first-ever World Championship title in 250cc GP racing by winning the final race of the season in Australia... Ted Hunnicutt (Kaw) raced to victory at round five of the AMA/National Ch amp ionship Har e f, Hound Seri es in Craig , Colorado . Dan Sm ith (KTM) crashed early and spent the re st of th e race playi ng ca tc h-u p. He caught up to second place. Danny Hamel (KTM) won the 250cc class and finished third overall.
