rest of the 6-mile loop. the Yamaha ride r was

Beal mounted the first charge.
By the end of two laps. Beal had moved
into fou rth , and he m oved to within str ik ing
dista nce of Furrenes - and then his bi ke seized
up solid, all coo lant gon e du e to damage from
a sim ple slid eout in th e fifth tu m of the rac e.

With two-thirds of th e race gon e, Raines

On the ninth lap, he caught and passed Furrenes, and that wou ld be that for th e top four
after 2 1/2 hours and 10 laps.

James Stephe ns st retched his win strea k to
four in a row i n th e 125cc Money class at
Di xie MX. St eph en s had the har d - p ac k ed
tra ck ma stered. riding to a perfect 1-1 sco re.
Stephens also put his YZl25 up against th e
bigger m achines in the Open Money class and
finished third.
More than 80 riders fro m the tri-state area
came out for the ra ce. Clay Downing led the
fi rst 125<::c M on ey moto, over Stephen s and

Stephens passed McCarley in the second tum
and took th e lead fro m D ow ning halfway
through the first lap. Downing kept the pressure on Stephens for several laps befor e let tin g him rid e away with two laps to go .

Supenn ini heat over Blane Mason and Bradley
Wright. Ben Fleetwood moved from outside the
top fi ve to seco nd by th e seco nd lap. With
Wright out front . Fleetwood attempted an inside
pass for the lead that caused both riders to go
