Blackwell, who led lap two , no w found himself in third . As Woodford foll ow ed J arrett o n the m u ch -an ti ci p a t e d last lap , th e specta tors cou ld only await the radio u p d a t e s . As the two r id e r s ap proa ch ed a s lick mo untain halfway th ro ugh t he la p , Woodford c lim bed up on Jarrett's back whee l, hopi ng to make a pass. Woo dford, with out any go gg les, was catch ing all of J a rrett's ro os t wh ile fo llowi ng J a rrett u p th e mudd y hil l.
