Lendell Smith led the Open B cla ss for th e first lap with a flat but he gave up th e lead to rep air the ti re and ended up fifth for the day. Th e sec ond lap was led by D an Kuchle. but he was pas sed by Aaron Davis and Ed Fessler on th e thi rd lap . Fessler took th e lead from Da vis and led the fo urth and fifth laps . Davis too k th e le ad ba ck from Fes sler while both wer e trying to get aro und a lap per o n th e sixth lap. Fessler got a front flat tire immed iat ely afte r th e pass whil e going up a rocky hill . wi th only three ~q uarte rs of a lap to go.
