Rapp ( 1- 2 ) earned the overall win , ahead of Legar ra (2 -4), Mor g en (7 -3), Pomeroy (5-5) a nd Ma c Ka y (4 -6) . Rapp also dominated both Sportsman 500cc Expert m o t o s . CZ rider Ed F la n ig e n was Rapp 's cl o s e s t competit ion in both cont ests , but Rapp br o k e fr e e of Flan igen in th e later stage s of both motos , leaving F la nige n to fend o ff local BSA rider Dana Sa lsman. Flan igen netted second ov era ll to the fo rm er Trans -AMA star Ra pp via 2 -2 p la cings.
