Larsen and DiF rancesco were on the 40 . Janniro. Hicks and Hedden li ned up on th e 50 . When the gate came up , Ferris went out on to p, blowing by Mattocks. Fisher hooked up coming o ut of four and took ai m on Janniro . Larson got under Man ches ter and took the lead o n lap two, but Manchester took the win at the finish by th e w idth of a ti re. Both moved on to the main; McCon nell and Ackroyd m oved to the LCO. Ackroyd was unable to make th e call , so the LCQ would be a three-man go . McConnell got the gat e of the night and dropped immediately down to the groove on th e p ol e. Schwartz tried eve ry th ing to move him off th e groove but did nothing m o re tha n foll ow him home, trailed by Estes . Th e final spot in th e ma in went to McConnell.
