This round matched all the drama and excitement of the previous four rounds, especi ally after de fe ndi ng World Sp eedway Ch ampi on T ony Rickard sson crashed out of contenti on in heat 19 when he was sent tumbling after clashing with Stefan Danno and Ryan Sulliv an. Rickardsson protested his innocence to referee To ny Steele but to no avail. In that one moment, the way was clear for Lorarn to increase his overall points advantage over the unlu ck y Swede. Loram could almost have m ade the titl e his had he won this round, but he was elim inated in the second semi -final , as the rain started to fall on Vojens, However, Loram refused to iet that setback upset his concentrat ion and he irnmedlately hit back by winni ng the consolation final. Loram , on 88 poi nts, now has a 12 poi nts lead over Ric kardsson but there is still all to play for in the final round, the Grand Prix of Europ e at Bydgoszcz on Septembe r 23 . For his part , Vojens winner Hancock, the Worl d Champi on in 1997. was overjoye d to be back in the winner's circle . "I have had a tough time in the GPs this year: Hancock said. "But we have changed a few things , and they certai nly paid off tonight. Now I want to finish the season on a high and look forward to 200 1." The debut of the uprated version of the fuel-injected 955i doesn't mean that Triu mph will disconti nue manufacture yet of the older T300 carburetted three-cylinder engine design used to launch the British m arque down the comeb ack trail a decade ago.
