I found it boring to ta lk about th e ra c ing, but I wanted to ta lk more a bout the things that no one wou ld know about me ch ild hood and so on. [Nor iyuki] Haga has been the one who ca n ride ha rd and win races . With the bike th at [Co lin ] Edwa rd s has had - it' s th e best bike. Yet he looks knackered when he gets off th e thin g . May be he's having p roblems with the b ike, bu t at th e start of th e yea r h e was ravi ng a bout how great it was! Just lik e in 500 GPs now, everyth ing seems to have opened up in 5uperbike. You haven 't got one guy that is the favor ite to win it. Eve ry year it has been me the fa vo rit e to win it , but n ext ye a r there could be five o r ·s ix gu ys that cou ld do it. Ha g a , Edwa rds , maybe [Ben] Bostro m, [T r o y] Ba y liss , maybe one other. I don't know with [T roy] Corser. His motivation and aggressi on seem to be le s s tha n with a ll them that I've alr eady mentioned . Hav ing said th at , Tro y cou ld end up winning the ch amp ionship this ye a r. But whoever wins the 2000 c h a m p io ns h ip , unl e s s it's Haga wh o ha s push ed hard and rode well, th en ... If it goes to Edwards , in my ey e s , he ' ll look like anything but a World Ch ampion in his performan ces. He 's be en so ave rage it' s unbel ie vab le .
