"We were jumping both tabletops," explained Vuillemin. "I was going fo r it, but at the last moment, I wasn't able to do it because I didn 't ha ve the run. I landed on the takeoff of the next jump and my hand came off the ba rs . He jumped both of them, so he passed me." O nce in the le a d , t h e s peeding Tortell i began to pull a way , wh ile Vuillem in was left t o deal with Carmic hael , who b litzed pas t th e Yama ha rider to take over the runnerup s pot. LaRocco , who rode steadily thr ough o ut the moto , la unc he d a final charge , also passing Vuillem in with just two laps to go . Tortelli took th e moto win , fol lowed by Carm icha e l, who ra c ed in for second. "I rea lly want to win this we e kend ," s a id Tortelli. "I've not had so go od a season. My bike wa s wo rking gr e a t, but I made a lot of mistakes tha t took me out of the title , s o fin ishing with a win would be gr eat." LaRocco was third , follow ed by Vuillemin, who h eld on for fourth . Windham rounded out the top five . With Carm icha e l now le a d in g by ove r 10 seconds, La Roc co also dove unde r Vuillemi n in the ne w finis h-li ne a rea do wnhill swe epe r. "I wa s squaring up before th e corner and go ing do wn th e ins ide ," said LaRocc o . "He was ra iling the outside and I had a great line at th e bottom where 1 had a lot of leverage." Carmichael charged in fo r the moto win - and his 34th career ove rall victory . LaRocco , who a ctuall y began to close the gap on Carm icha e l lat e in the race, finished out his sea son in st yle by taking s econd . Vuillemin was third, followed by Re ynard in fourth. Windham wa s a con sistent fifth , fol lowed by Tortelli in sixth. "Mike was riding really we ll," said Carmichael. "He was on th e gas and was pressuring me . The illness carried on lo r several week s and when he came back to riding he injured his ankle .
