C urrie r , r i di ng t he Pr o C al ib e r / D eM a rin i/Tro y Lee D esig n s -b ac k ed Co bra, scored convinci ng 1- 1 v ic to ri es in the 50cc Ad vanc ed , 50 /60 cc Open and 60cc Junio r (6-8) cla sses. Rid er s from Nevada , Califo rn ia and Montana were also on hand for the event. Washingtonians Taylor Fell er and Cory Evans trailed Currier at the unleashing of the first 50 cc Advanced moto, but neither c ould put a wheel u nderneath the impressive C u rr ie r , who was using this race to hone his wa rm-weathe r riding skills f o r t he upcoming Loretta Lynn 's AMA Amateur National. While Currie r sped away from the rest of the field , Cobra rider Jeremy Steward clawed his way into contention for an aggressive second -place finish to Currier. Moto two was much the same . Currier roosted his way to an unc on test ed lead out of turn one and went unchall enged in his w ire -to -wire win in th e 90 -deg ree heat . Steward, KTM m o un t ed Eva ns a nd Fe lle r trai led Curr ier ov erall. Currier c ame back two m otos later to lead th e 50 /60cc Open class. this t im e facing tough challenges from KTM USA -sponsored Brandy n Ja sa W and KX rider Dustin Steward . In th e end. though, Currier connected fo r hi s second overall w in of the da y with I I pl a c in g s to lead Jasa , Steward , Derrick May and F ell er into th e top five ove rall . C ur rie r's tou g hes t challenges wo u ld come in th e 60cc J unio r class , w h ic h ran com b ine d w ith the 60cc Sen ior rid er s. Th e first t o l eave the line were th e 60c c Senio r rid er s, led by KTM-b acked Rhett J ohnson , Cody Cose ns and T ra vi s Em ery . C u rrier, wh o starte d off so me 16 secon ds behind the Senio r riders in wave two , q uickly carved t hrough traffic and sett l e d in behind th e lead tr i o of Senior contestants. Johnson checked out on the co mpetition , leading Jasa to th e check ere d nag , while Cosens barely edged out Currier at t h e f i nish ; Curr ier topped the Junior (6 -8 ) class , well ahead of Kawasaki ri der Travis Qu e senberr y and May. Johnson netted a win in moto two to net the Sen ior (91 1) w in , while Currier got th e nod in the Junior class to fi nali ze hi s threecl ass win ta lly. Mont ana 's Travis Booh er g ated ahead of the fie ld in the first m oto of the combined 125cc Pro /Interm ed i ate/Junio r class, but the Professi ona l ride r from Misso u la saw hi s rid e q uickly go aw ry: B o oh er , ridi ng a Yama ha , took a wrong turn and wa s then fa cing a large deficit once back o n tra ck . Suzuk i rider Brody Baxt er and Honda -mounted Ryan Hu eg e battled for the lea d for m uc h of th e rac e until Hu e g e fell and Jason B e eb e Supe rm in i classes . B randon Kentner was Hueg e ' s closest c omp et ition , trai ling th e Hon d a rid er in the 80cc Junior cla ss. KTM rider J a k e Gump sco re d a w in i n th e Before The Hill cl ass to narrow the gap on points leader Bria n Syslo with a 1- 1 sweep aboard his 200cc KT M . Behind Gump , though, there was a squabble f or second between Yamaha rider Ro bert K night , S e an Li g h t, Warren Re g n i e r a n d Syslo ; the positi on ult imately went to eN K ni g ht, aboard his YZ250 . inherit ed the po sition at th e finish. Bo oher got a m uch -imp ro ved fin ish in moto two , trailing Baxter from the get-go to the end . Booh er , wh o was making his debut at the facili ty , pushed B a x t e r all th e way to the checkered nag but wa s unabl e to get around the loc al spe edster. Both riders, th ou gh , scored re spective c lass w ins: Baxt er netted the 125 c c Junior w in, ah ead of Beebe and Hu ege. The ride r who tra veled the furth est d ista nce - Ocea nsi de , Cali f orn ia' s Amy Li gh t - nabb ed both hol eshot s in th e Wo men 's class , but th e 19 -year old could n 't main ta in the pos ition ; Suzuk i r iders Rh i a n n a Stenzel and Jennifer Wa ibel - the top two riders in the se!'ies ' po int standings - re leg ated the Kawasaki jockey to th ird in both motos. Stenze l used a 1- 1 tally t o lead Wai bel , Light, Sa ra Costa and Riki Proffitt into the to p five overa ll. Shawn Hueg e looked well on h i s way to a win in the first 250cc J un io r moto, bu t late in the ra ce th e Honda rider from Yamhill , Oregon , crashed.
