The R6 doesn 't have a lot of botto m end to start with, but th e full system really mak es it a wheezer below seven grand. In defense of th e syste m , it p er form s as intended. On a racetrac k , an d in ra c in g conditions, an R6 pro bably never drops b elow 10,000 rp m , so the full sy stem caters t o that perfectly . In tha t situation , it delivers additional p ow er r ight wh er e y ou want it - up top . The problem is , it's no t practica l to rid e around town like Jamie Hacking at 14 ,000 rp m all the ti me and , consequentl y , th e lack of response from the bottom en d is very noticeable in normal rid in g con ditions. On th e other hand, in th e ca nyons, t he ad de d p o w er up t op is o b v iou s , pulling very hard from 9500 rp m on up . T he alumin um s lip -on retails fo r $2 75 , w ith th e ca r b o n-fi be r versio n goi ng f o r abo ut $ 125 mo re. O ne thing that is un iqu e about the GYT - R system is its versatility . By purchasin g th e full system, the owner could use the slip -on w ith the stock header for everyday r id in g , and t hen bo lt on th e G YT - R race heade r fo r t rack days o r a rac e w eek end. Th is is p o ssi b le b e c au se t he jun cti o n b et w een the header and co lle ctor is the sa me o n both t he st o c k header a nd t h e r ace hea de r , mak in g it the b e st of b oth wo rlds for th e price of a full syst em . So stay tu ned , because w e p lan t o inst all a j et k it in the ne xt couple o f weeks to h opefull y fill in th at crater at th e bottom of t he rev ran g e, and possi b ly gain a couple more horsepower in the process.
