A l th o ugh th e tu rno ut in th e B class e s was r a th er light , the racing was any thi ng but boring. Shan e Lusk and Za c k Lund y t rad e d wi ns in the 12 5cc B class , with th e overall going to Lusk . In the 2 5 0 c c B class , the overall went to Brian McLeod, over a charging Jason Grie r. In Sat u r d a y ' s Pr o warmup r a c e , Jose ph S i lc o x spl it mo to wins with Jon Boy Mon k ; the overall went to Sil co x by virtue o f hi s sec ond -m oto wi n. Fis her immediately bega n to p ressu re Tipping and he m ade the pass on lap three and started to p ull awa y . Sti les fi nall y passed Tipping on the white-flag lap. Fisher easily to ok the m oto w in , ahead of St iles , w ith T ipping th ird and Monk fo urth . As the pa ck entered the fir st turn in moto two, St iles went down, leavin g him i n l a st p l a c e as the pack m ot ored away . Tipping led the fiel d , followe d by F i sh er a nd Monk. A s St iles began to m ak e up the g ro und he had los t, Fish er was pu tt ing pressur e on T ippin g fo r th e lead . Wit h tw o la p s t o g o , F is h er pas sed T ippi ng . Meanwhil e , Sti les had been cl os in g o n Monk, and he made th e pass for third alm ost at the same tim e th e lead changed hand s. After a fall in t he f ir st turn of th e secon d 125 cc moto le ft St il es wit h vi rtual ly no c h a n c e at t he ove rall v ictory, the A la ba ma speed ster st ill worked h is way bac k into th ird place by m ot e 's end , ens uring him a place on the podium . D espite temperatures in the m id 90s, more than 400 riders were on hand, and the raci n g was as hot as th e weather in all classes . This race a lso served as a qualifier for the Ponca City Youth Nationals, and all of the mi ni classes were hotly con tested . The promoters provid ed prizes for th e li ttle g u y s as we ll : Nine BMX b ik es were given away , as w e ll a s n in e pogo sti ck s , a n d ev ery m in i ri der rec eived a w ater gun. Derrick Fisher (9 11) was the 125cc Pro w inner in Tallassee, Alabama. Ma y was the man to b eat in the Vet di vi sio n. In add ition to his st rong showing in the Pro cla ss, Ma y easily won both the O ver 25 A and O ver 35 A classes. Florida's Kevin Kn ight fin ished a stro ng sec ond t o Ma y in bo th classes .
