A n ongoing rivalry has been devel op ing in the Ev olu t i on 200 clas s b etw een Suzuki rider Ken Napol ita n o an d Ho nda ma n T om Fran ce . Although he ha s stay ed cl ose enough to m ak e a race of it, Fran ce hasn 't been abl e to come up with a win against Nap olitano in th ree outings . In the sec o nd Pre -1 9 7 0 250cc m o to . a strugg le developed between BSA-mounted Paul Havir and Triumph pilot Dean Hutchi nson. Havir led until the next -to-Iast lap , when Hut chinson was able to pass him on the uphill. Havir mad e a valiant effort to regain the lead but ultim ately lost it when he got tangled up with a Honda rider w ho went down in fro nt of him . By th e ti me Havir was able to get up and goi ng, Hutch inson's lead was insurm ounta ble. Th e presence of BSA rider Steve Tuck er should have made this class even m ore interesting , but he had to settle for a DNF after his B25 dro pped a valve. The track at Flach's Farm is new th is year, but it was design ed and built with a lot of ride r inpu t. (Mr. Flach him self puts in a very credible showi ng on an o ld m ot ocross ma c hine.) T he track wa s " v int age- friend ly" bu t brakeshoe-unfriendly.
