They don 't p ound yo u to death in every section ; it' s more like Chinese water torture . Ea ch section by itself is actually a b last to ride, but after riding them all , yo u alwa ys fee l like you go t your money' s worth . The 2000 runni ng of th e KP Enduro proved no different. Three d ifferen t ro u nds ha ve produced three d ifferent winn ers in this young f':lETRA Enduro season . Yama ha of Putnarn/Sinisalo -sp on sored J erry Mador e wanted to m ake sure he put h im s el f a to p th e podi um befo re too mu ch tim e went by. Mador e dropped 22 po int s a n d ro de a c o nsis te n t , uneventful race. Raze e/Moose/ KTM's Hans Neff edged out tea m mate Jason Ca ye r on emergency points to ta ke second overall, first AA rider. Both riders finishe d with 24 -point cards. KPT R pu t together a fine course, piecing togethe r m a ny fa milia r sec tio ns with s ome brand- new tra il. T he course started wit h a quick wa rmup a n d a k now n co ntrol into Fo xb o ro State Fo rest. CRE/E-Lin e -s po ns or ed Raffi Peterson po ste d the fas test time th rou gh . S ix m iles of easy-going tra il le d to th e official gas stop and a 20 -m inute la yove r, fo llow ed by a few mor e miles of timekeeping . Turning into th e woods , th e riders found a fresh -cut 8 -mil e lo op that we aved bac k a n d fo rt h a cross th e ga s line . At the e nd of th e gas line wa s th e infamo us Mud Hol e . Som e riders chose a line through the trees around th e hole altogether, w hile o t he rs bl as t e d th ro ug h a ny pl ace th e y co u ld see some g roun d . Th e be st line proved to be a de ep rut with a roc k-solid bott om . Th os e intim idated by the rut avoi ded it , but they wish ed th ey ha dn 't when they had to d ig th emse lves o ut. Normally an easy timekeeping section, th is ye a r the gas line was a points -taker. Most of th e fas ter riders dropped two points here. Frank lin State Forest provided the landscape for the next section , and elimi na ted one to p rider from con tent ion .
